Event Highlights - 2008

Reid Winfrey's painting "Playing With Fire" was presented to the San Jose, California, Fire Department in August by the San Jose Japantown community and the Art Object Gallery. The gift was in recognition of the Department's "truly sensitive and miraculous performance on the morning of November 28th, 2007". The Department was called to a serious fire immediately next door to the gallery and needed to break through the gallery in order to access the fire; despite the urgency of the situation firefighters went to great lengths to preserve the artworks in the gallery and very few works were damaged. Battalion Chief Kevin Conant and dozens of firefighters were on hand at Art Object Gallery to celebrate the presentation and raise funds for burn victims in San Jose.

The "surf" series painting "Blue View" was featured in Longboard Magazine's Art of Surfing issue in October.

Nineteen new works were exhibited at Stanford University in a show entitled Summer, with Dogs.
